【Other news】Academia Sinica’s ＂Net Zero Technology R&D Policy Proposal＂released on 11/30 proposed five technological fields that need to be promoted as soon as possible
On Wednesday (11/30), the Academia Sinica released the＂Taiwan Net Zero Technology R&D Policy Proposal,＂ which provides suggestions for our country’s R&D path towards 2050 net zero emissions from the perspective of technology R&D. This proposal is centered on the promotion of new technologies, combined with social, economic, and governance-oriented measures. It is hoped that through the successful implementation of net zero technology, it will drive our country’s energy transformation and industrial transformation, and build the ability of social adjustment, so as to move towards my country 2050 net zero goal. The five scientific and technological fields that need to be promoted as soon as possible are:
1. Decarbonization and hydrogen combustion 2. Geothermal 3. Ocean energy 4. High-efficiency perovskite stacked solar energy 5. Biomass carbon sink
Among them, the ＂high-efficiency solar photovoltaic system＂ proposed by the Academia Sinica to actively develop the next generation of high-efficiency and low-priced photovoltaic modules (efficiency about 30%), improve the photoelectric conversion efficiency per unit cost, and exchange technology for land.
Academia Sinica pointed out that the laboratory efficiency of [perovskite] stacked silicon-based junction solar panels has been significantly improved, but it is still a challenge to achieve high-efficiency and low-cost manufacturing processes on a large scale. It is recommended to [strengthen economic and policy incentives] to Technology R&D reduces production costs and improves commercial feasibility.
